چکیده

Photonic crystal waveguide slow-light grating emits a free-space optical beam and steers it widely by changing the wavelength or refractive index. In reverse process, returned light is coupled into device again. We have proposed to use this transmission reception antenna as scanner for detection ranging (LiDAR). Ideally, large-aperture can narrow enhance efficiency. Actually, however, performance not scalable owing loss even though simply lengthened. A serial array configuration in which divided multiple antennas effective mitigating problem. study, we fabricated such using Si photonics technology obtained small divergence of 0.02° at telecom wavelength. Then, observed operation adding an setup frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) LiDAR confirmed that improved intensity 12 dB. Moreover, FMCW chip were integrated parallel with switch trees Ge photodiodes point cloud images two-dimensional scanning.

radiation pattern analysis of frequency diversity array based on square frequency modulated continuous wave

according to high costs of phase shifters in antenna arrays, new methods for beam steering without phase shifter were introduced. frequency diverse array (fda) concept is another approach to beam steering problem. in this structure, the subsequent antenna elements are fed with stepped discrete frequencies causing continuous scanning of space in time. so a range-angle dependent scanning is made ...

Maximum-likelihood estimation for frequency-modulated continuous-wave laser ranging using photon-counting detectors.

We analyze the minimum achievable mean-square error in frequency-modulated continuous-wave range estimation of a single stationary target when photon-counting detectors are employed. Starting from the probability density function for the photon-arrival times in photodetectors with subunity quantum efficiency, dark counts, and dead time, we derive the Cramér-Rao bound and highlight three importa...

Linear phase-and-frequency-modulated photonic links using optical discriminators.

We report our experimental results for linear analog optical links that use phase or frequency modulation and optical discrimination. The discriminators are based on two architectures: a cascaded MZI FIR lattice filter and a ring assisted MZI (RAMZI) IIR filter. For both types of discriminators, we demonstrate > 6 dB improvement in the link's third-order output intercept point (OIP3) over a MZM...

4He Optical Pumping with Frequency Modulated Light

Recently a distributed Bragg reflection (DBR) laser diode was commercialised by SDL (USA) for helium optical pumping experiments. An interesting feature of the new device is the possibility of frequency modulation of the diode output by modulating the current intensity, leading to a new pumping scheme called optical pumping with frequency modulated light. We develop this method to induce spin p...

Multiple source frequency-modulated continuous-wave optical reflectometry: theory and experiment.

We propose and demonstrate a novel approach to increase the effective bandwidth of a frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) ranging system. This is achieved by algorithmically stitching together the swept spectra of separate laser sources. The result is an improvement in the range resolution proportional to the increase in the swept-frequency range. An analysis of this system as well as the...
